I'm guessing that your not looking for a response. It sounds like you have been beat down during your lifetime. You are not unique. Many of us are living through the pains put on us by outside forces.
I do feel your pain but, I am an optimist and will never give up or give in to the evil around me.
Thanks for posting, myname email. I hear you, but for me, no matter how dark things get, I always look for the light, wherever it is, to find the people who feel as I do and refuse to accept the darkness.
I have an upcoming local community event - like a mini-TED talk, coming up this weekend, so between an early bout of hay fever and panic, am desperately trying to put something together (in Japanese) ... and I could not help but to see the tight-rope-walk of my role in your strip.
I suspect maybe 20% will be wearing masks ... though this is Japan, and even pre-covid times could expect that face-gear during this time of the year. Guessing maybe half will have had one mRNA jab, but thanks to the ephemera of alternative media, are beginning to suspect malicious propaganda, especially the older people who still have memories of the government's role in the AIDs scandal. But this is Japan, and rather than speak out to authority, the grapevine of whispering between neighbors is more likely to maximize that alt. media.
Within my 15 minutes on stage, and maybe an hour of post-presentation chat, I will have to entertain as much as inform about local communities as being more trustworthy and sustainable than institutions and their tools of propaganda and compliance ... and do this without alienating those who have taken the blue pill. As a foreigner walking on eggshells, maybe it will just end up as just another song-and-dance, a mirror in which the audience sees only what they want to see.

Thanks for this post, Bob — just about exactly what I was going to say.

Your illustrations are fabulous, Anne! Just perfect.
Thank you so much, Sheila!
Wonderful Anne.
Again.
One thing.
I think it's Toe the line, not tow.
Thanks, Evil Harry! I had no idea about toe vs tow! Thanks for the heads up — will make the change ASAP. Better late than never ;-)
I was about to chime in on that; you beat me to it. My other irritation is ‘could care less’. Let the pile-on (not pylon) commence!
Great illustrations!
Thanks so much, Kat!
"Keep doing nothing!" lol! Yep, the NGOs.
Thank you, jarombra!
Perfection.
Thank you, Mrs. McFarland!

Dr. Seuss would be proud.

Brilliant, Anne!
Many thanks, Tim!
Hi Anne,
In agreement with others, consistently brilliant.

From top down, the first two of your panels are spot-on.
That third one is the tough one ... a Platonic ideal, surfing on the edge of chaos and order.
On the other hand, I've always had a soft spot for that Robert Browning thingy ...
"And that cartoon, the second from the door
—It is the thing, Love! so such things should be—"
(Who'd a thunk? Robert Browning, anticipating Anne Gibbons?)
... or the more familiar
"Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp,
Or what's a heaven for?"
Ha.
They had memes back then too!
Cheers Anne,
Passing this one around F.B. groups too.
Fresh and light despite the messages. Super!
The first panel was great, no question about the meaning.
The second panel is where the regime is playing Wak-A-Mole.
As can be seen with the J6 prisoners and continued harassment of the conservative population.
The third panel is more of a hopeful dream, I am sure the majority of your subscribers agree that this is the way it should be.
