Yeah! Connecting with real people is one very important thing.
Here in Norway there are four owners of grocery stores. Each of them have three or four subsidiary franchises. Now they are rolling out cashless self-serve registers where you scan the bar code of every item before you pay with a bank card.
The only grocery stores that are locally owned are Asian immigrant owned, and very little of that food ist locally grown. Sad.
So sorry to hear this, GreaterIsrahell! Just this morning, I went to the local Farmer's Market where I bought apples, potatoes and greens. The vendors, who have farms further north in New York or in neighboring New Jersey know me, and it's a very pleasant experience. I always pay in cash, and they're happy to receive it. When they enforced masks and distancing in 2020, and didn't allow us to touch the produce, the experience was the polar opposite of what it had been. I had to stop going. It broke my heart, and I worried that they'd never be back. Who knows what the future will bring, but for now, I am grateful that it's here and hope people will fight like hell to keep them.
Fifty years ago in my home town the largest square in town was just like you describe. Then during the 80's that all changed, and they were forced to sell their produce to one single distribution center.
In 1994 Norway became a member of what is called European Economic Cooperation. From then on farmers were no longer permitted to do the slaughtering of their animals. They had to have it done at a central location, and there have been dozens and dozens of videos made of how inhumane the people there are.
As far as cash is concerned.... The Norwegian and Swedish governments are both trying to become the first cashless country in the world. The majority of the people in government are clueless. Then again we have a few politicians like Gro Harlem Brundtland that had a stint as director of WHO. Everyone knows Jens Stoltenberg. I only found out that the president of WEF is Børge Brende.
Also wondering — can you grow your own garden? We’ve been doing that in the Bronx, in the small yard in front of our house. Some greens can be grown indoors, sprouts at the very least. Nutritional and so good for the soul.
Thanks for posting this lovely poem, Dosamuno! I was just about to ask if you were an English major, teacher, &/or professor because you are a treasure trove of wonderful quotes and literary references.
Glad you enjoyed that Digital Dungeon cartoon. I didn't realize until today that it had already been posted. Really, we need to get away from these screens, except for connecting the way we are right now!

Excellent! My motto used to be "Think Global, Act Local" but now it is "Think Local, Act Local" (but obviously don't forget about those darned Globalists).
Agreed! Never forget about those slime balls, but their diabolical agenda will be enforced where we live, and that's where we need to throw wrenches into the gears!
I’m in!
YAY!!! Thank you, ejimagine!
Thank you for doing this
it's the best and only way
Amen!!!

Tumble share prices, connect with real people, enjoy shopping more!

Thanks so much for this information, GreaterIsrahell! The future is bleak as all holy hell if these slime balls get their way!

My head is bloody, but unbowed."

Drawing reminded me of this poem by the great Edna Saint Vincent Millay. (You'd never guess that I was once an English Lit major)
DAPHNE
Why do you follow me?—
Any moment I can be
Nothing but a laurel-tree.
Any moment of the chase
I can leave you in my place
A pink bough for your embrace.
Yet if over hill and hollow
Still it is your will to follow,
I am off;—to heel, Apollo!

👌🏾
'an acid global idea' is but one anagram of 'diabolical agenda'. No wonder it is dangerous and global!

Happy vibe cartoon Anne . I like your confident shopper buying locally.
Thank you, onevivid! It's about time for you, Sheila and me to buy locally at Tiny's Diner... and pay in cash, of course. ;-)
Good to see a post where the glass is half full, Anne. From when I subscribed (not so long ago) until today it's been half empty. ;-)
The capitalist end game is that one person owns everything on the planet. YOU INCLUDED!
The dinosaur media is down to six as of right now. Social media is down to less than ten.
Always glad to post half full cartoons, GreaterIsrahell! Thanks for the feedback.
