I enjoy reading articles where the author is abiding my the asinine preference of they/them. I don't need to read it over and over to try to discern who is saying what or who did what to whom. They pronouns tell me everything I need to know" I don't care and everyone involved is a dumbass.

Thank you, Raptor! I agree - asinine is the word to describe this whole thing. Whenever I see someone informing readers/viewers/whomsoever about their preferred pronouns, I feel a pang of disappointment. They're buying this baloney! (The real "they," not the I'm not male or female "they." ;-)

I know, right?

The Synthetic Left so thoroughly sh@t themselves with this utter nonsense that I no longer recognize them as functioning humans. I TRY to allow for the possibility that they still ARE functioning humans. But where's the evidence? (I'm still looking.)

NB: I don't vote Republican and have abandoned the Demos. The Synthetic Left have themselves to thank for this change.

This is more the Democrats and corporate/centrist liberals co-opting left-wing causes and making them flaccid to reinforce the status quo, because hyping up the culture war doesn't threaten oligarchs. Why have Medicare-for-All or paid sick leave when you can have Pride Month Sponsored By Bank of America?

Yes, absolutely! Thank you, That Guy!

The facial-diapering crowd fell for it. That's what I have a problem with.

Aside from abandoning the Demos and voting third party (which is little more than a hollow protest, given that we have zero assurances votes are counted as cast by these shadowy software and machine owners). all I can do is refuse to play along with the Synthetic Left's posturing. They make me physically ill.

agree

It is a very fitting word.

Kind of like Plastic People

Remember when we used to accuse some of behaving "plastic" This is the Synthetic Left.

Frank Zappa and the Mothers had a song called, "Plastic People". It was awesome.

Wow, did I just date myself, or what? lol

Brek, I can definitely sympathize. I used to be considered far 'left' of 'center' myself.

As for the Dems, I didn't walk away from them so much as it moved so far away from me I could no longer recognize it. Maybe I was deluded all along, but I spent years working for 'food for the people' and equality.

I still believe many of the things I did then, but I never hated my country, EVER. The new Dem party seems to hate us, and I find myself feeling utterly gullible for ever having allied myself with such people.

Synthetic left is a very apt term.

I'm sorry, I can't do that. If I were able to, I would have to prioritize my best friend who is having trouble paying for her cancer treatment.

I hope things get better for you, but I am unable to do as you ask.

Count me in, Brek & Perplexity! We’ve been played. The Dems are despicable. Used to buy the BS that they were better than the Republicans, but I think they do a very deceptive dance. And then there’s the Left! They’re aligning with the elite as they lead the world to hell, spouting WOKE hog wash as they sleepwalk along.

this is sooo true! language is beautiful and flexible, it will evolve with the times, but it's a different thing altogether when we are being coerced to use newisms (which brings us back to the synthetic left!).

I totally agree, mary-lou! Language evolves naturally in a beautiful way that reflect the experiences and times people are living through. It should be sacrosanct to let that happen, not twist and turn it to suit an agenda! And of course, the only ones who can do that are those who call the shots and are trying to steer us in one dystopian direction. No effing way!

absolutely! the following article describes the type of brainwashing that seems to happen to students. it starts with the abuse of language - https://conservativesdaily.com/nyc-mom-hired-deprogrammer-for-daughter-brainwashed-by-colleges-woke-agenda

Thanks, mary-lou! Will check this out ASAP! Just reading the title brings to mind recent grads from elite colleges I used to know, one of whom accused me of my “whiteness” showing up in a conversation we had. ??? It was the end of what had been an amicable friendship, despite my being decades older than him.

as this woman describes it, she grew into this person that felt 'very anxious, very nervous, very depressed and sad.... I left [the school] looking for injustice wherever I could and automatically assuming that all White men were sexist....'

I think this is the essence of the abusive attitudes displayed by so many of the 'woke' women.

also i just realise that there are certain similarities among some of the trans men and woke women in the reactions they have (bullying) towards the 'normal' majority. curiouser and curiouser!

Thanks for the link.

The subject deserves a more in-depth approach than that article takes, but at least it's hitting some important points about the insane indoctrination going on.

Since I've been mostly checked out of 'popular' culture (please!) since teenage years and wasn't paying attention to what was happening to the younger generations in later years when I became an adult (no kids of my own, here), I missed the moment when the US went total TardNation. (Yes, that word "tard"--or the other version starting with "r"--is something we used casually in conversation when I was growing up...to describe ourselves and others' behaviors. Suddenly now it's "neurodivergent," and we're not even allowed to refer to our own stupidity or clumsiness.)

My first exposure to the change was while attending a college presentation in the 20-teens that was open to the public, and the young woman seated next to me in the audience asked the presenter(s) a question. Suddenly, I was hearing a person speak who was clearly crippled by anxiety at a level I had never imagined existed. Wow.

very true. I wonder where the healing should start or should come from? this superficial, or can one say synthetic state of anxiety resembles the stunted development in young children. once a person is convinced about being "a victim" (of something....or whatever) I imagine it's hard to turn that around and make them creative, conscious, empathic, friendly human beings again. we'll see where this is going!

That hit close to home. Two months ago I contacted the Maine Cooperative Extension regarding an invasive weed issue and the agent had included the dreadful she-her-hers in her return message contact info. I thought glumly “ Please, no! “ and bought a book on the subject instead. These folks need a doggy school-style “Leave it” command.

You have such a gift forr saying with a picture what I struggle to say with words. And then you evince a smile or even a laugh from us as well. I consider myself left, that is seeking an economic system that includes fairness to all. That these however elected paid shills are even called leftists galls me. I think of those democrats who stood with the workers in their fight for decent pay, for the 40-hour work week, an end to child labor and we all know that they have zero DNA in common with what's currently stealing their good name.

Spot on! As an old lefty of five decades vintage (I'm so ancient, I can remember a Time Before TV, and I still don't know what an 'app' is), I have been utterly dismayed by how the contemporary 'left' has befouled its own nest during the Covid Era by snuggling up to the capitalist state, embracing censorship, rooting for the police-state and worshipping Big Pharma. Covid Derangement Syndrome was preceded by Trump Derangement Syndrome and Woke Derangement Syndrome, so the trajectory had already been set. Now the 'Left' has finally left me - but I have found a wonderful ecosystem of people (including most of the working class, and some cartoonists!) who actually believe in such unfashionable things as freedom, both medical and political.

Wow, Phil, I’m on the ancient side, too, although I don’t remember pre-TV times, I do remember when the Left represented workers against injustice, for crying out loud, not to mention being anti-war and anti-corporate anything! As I mentioned somewhere else, the Left is dead to me, and I, too, have found a new world of friends and allies who come from various backgrounds but are on the same page about seeing encroaching fascism as clear as day! I’m beside myself with former friends who got scared out of their wits, swallowed everything anti-Trump and somehow gave - and are still giving - Big Pharma a pass. Not to mention believing corporate media that relies on Big Pharma for the lion’s share of their advertising revenue. It makes me crazy - yes, even the concept of FREEDOM has somehow become tainted with representing the Right. HUH? If the Left isn’t for freedom, what are they for?
