The look on the face of the lady in the cartoon, is the look on my face exactly. --- Then I start to cry.

when my first child was in utero, I did a lot of research on everything I could think of related to babies. learned a lot of scary stuff about vaccines, what's in them, and what can happen from using them.

I was not even slightly surprised, since in college in 1994 or 1995 I'd had it out with the Student Health crew (we called em Student Death) about my MMR records being 2 months before their arbitrary cutoff date and them demanding I take another dose. We went back and forth for a while, then I got tired of it and was going to comply. they then disclosed that they wanted me to sign a waiver of liability "for side effects up to and including death." I told them that while they could force me to be injected, there's no way I was signing away the rights of my family to sue their pants off if I died from taking an inoculation I didn't even want.

they immediately backed down and told me I could file a written objection with what I'd just said and they'd file it as a Philosophical Exemption. then if there was an outbreak of measles, mumps, or rubella amongst their vaccinated college population I'd have to stay home until it cleared up.

which of course I did.

within I think a few years, there was a massive outbreak of whooping cough... in the vaccinated college population. wow, those injections must be really effective!
